I understand that everybody is doing what makes them happy. You’re supposed to. Sometimes regardless of how that may make other people feel. We preach “be happy”. You can be happy, but at what and whose expense?
So what do you choose?
Of course, you have to choose your happiness. You can’t make people happy but you absolutely can make you happy. You can hurt people even though you can’t make them happy. Weird how that works…but anyway.
Sometimes it’s not personal.
“I just have to do what I need to do for me!” kinda thing, right?
You just need to wholeheartedly make sure your decision is worth what you’ll lose, what it’s going to cost you. Make sure it’s worth it because certain lines, once you cross them, you have to stay there.
Decide if this decision is worth what it’s about to cost you. Use discernment. Some lessons you don’t have to learn the hard way, I did, but it was necessary because, now I know. Have self discipline. Use discernment, always.
“I think the word discipline has kind of gotten a bad name. We think about it in terms of punishment. I’m not talking about discipline in that way. I’m talking about discipline in the sense that you forgo immediate pleasure in exchange for long-term self-respect.”- Will Smith
Be happy. Be intentional.
